Mind Ramblings: 7 [Music And Emotions]

I had a thought today. About music. And emotion. About relating music to emotion, or, more specifically, listening to certain music during certain emotional moments in life. Why do we do it? I know me personally, when I'm angry, then the music I listen to will have more of an edge to it, or when I'm happy, it'll be upbeat, same with when I'm sad, it seems like I'll just listen to sad music. Why? I've noticed that, well, sad music tends to make me more sad, just intensifies the emotion. And, it got me to wondering. Do I subconsciously do it to get out all that emotion, thus, bringing me back to a normal state. Seems kind of strange, but I've noticed it with happiness, moments of sadness, times when I'm angry. It's not healthy to keep emotion in all the time, and I guess when I can't let certain emotions out, I do it through music, it's almost like the music does really pull out all the emotion, so I can get back to normal, and get over things.
I guess that gives another meaning to the saying that music soothes the soul...
